INTERVIEW: Brett White: Power in Numbers. Opportunity in Adversity.

Zapper CEO, Brett White, chats to Jarette about an exciting and selfless initiative launched during these trying times. Globally, the adverse affect of COVID-19 has stretched well beyond medical borders with far reaching impact on the world’s financial landscape. In the midst of this storm Brett has found a brilliant and innovative way to reach out a helping hand. Actually, many helping hands. Zapper has launched a feature on it’s platform enabling consumers countrywide to pay it forward using the same concept that started the company . . . So how did Zapper come about? “It’s a bit of a lengthy story,” says Brett. “There was an opportunity to create a way for people to be able to scan and pay for services with their mobile phones without having to wait for a bill.” This was long before ‘tap and go’ or NFC technology were established. The brilliance of the Zapper inception has now birthed a way to save SME’s registered with Zapper countrywide.

This feature allows us to help save SMEs without waiting for lockdown restrictions to be lifted and, in true patriotic spirit, Zapper has enabled this feature at no cost to the merchant or consumer.

How does it work? Zapper’s latest feature enables one to download and log into the app and find a Zapper-registered small business within your vicinity. You can then donate to them or buy a voucher for future use at said establishment. Imagine that?! This feature allows us to help save SMEs without waiting for lockdown restrictions to be lifted. In true patriotic spirit Zapper has enabled this feature to be used at no cost to the merchant or consumer.

Zapper’s initiative has contributed to making sure that businesses, jobs and, by extension, households are saved depending on how we as a people respond to this call.

A sad reality is that COVID-19 has had a devastating impact world wide. How each nation responds medically and morally to the crisis at hand will determine that nation’s outcome.
